New member orientation at Colombo

DHPL Auditorium, Nawam Mawatha, at Colombo saw over 200 Toastmasters from various clubs converging. The main focus of the event was to orient the newly joined Toastmasters to the ways of the Toastmasters world. The event helped the newly joined members to understand their role in the organization better and how to take it forward effectively. The event also had something in store for the existing members as it covered topics such as “How to have an effective club meeting”. It was a run down on the many things that make for a typical, efficient Toastmaster meeting – time management, role clarity, stage setup, preparedness of speakers, availability of trophies and ribbons … . The meeting also threw light on “The path to a constructive project evaluation”, emphasizing the need for a 360 degree project evaluation and how to do the same.

In addition to conducting the event, TLI also recognized Division A, Area E4 and AATSL Toastmasters Club for the highest number of participants for the event.
