Traditional Program

Develop and practice communication and leadership skills in the safe, supportive environment of your club, working through projects and assignments that enable you to build real–world skills in a variety of disciplines. Learn at your own pace in a proven curriculum that was built on four guiding principles that have been in place since Toastmasters was founded in 1924:

Experiential learning – By giving speeches and fulfilling leadership roles, you practice and improve.

Peer feedback– Grow and improve through honest and supportive peer evaluation.

Mentoring – Experienced mentors encourage, guide and support you in your goals and help you to achieve more than you thought possible.

Self-paced program – Develop skills at your own pace and comfort level.

There are two tracks in the traditional program, the communication track and the leadership track. The core of the communication track is the Competent Communicator manual. It contains 10 speech projects to help you gain the basic skills needed to present an effective speech.

The core of the leadership track is the Competent Leader manual. It contains 10 leadership projects to help develop the basic skills needed to be an effective leader.

The two tracks are not mutually exclusive; you may participate in both at the same time, if you wish. There are many opportunities for awards and recognition along the way

The traditional program is available only until June 30, 2018. It will be replaced by the Pathways Learning experience
